The Mayan Trade Network
The Mayans had a remarkable trade network in which they obtained very important materials like salt, cotton, and cacao. The Maya didn't have horses, donkeys or any other animal that could help them transport goods. Wherever it was possible the Mayans would travel by sea and use canoes to transport goods. This trade network was also huge it stretched north of modern day mexico and and went to south America also. Great effort was also used by the Mayans in this trade network, Mayan porters would work ten hours a day carrying heavy loads that could be over 100 pounds. The Mayans were genius too they were able to establish trade with no communication devices, pack animals or modern day vehicles. Lastly the Mayans used the items they got in everyday life and it helped them greatly to improve their economy.
